PLAINFIELD, NJ - The only time the Plainfield City Council will meet this month is for its Joint Agenda Session on Monday, June 10 at Municipal Court.
There are 28 resolutions, and 5 ordinances on the agenda.
Resolution R 245-17 is to approve the application of the Detective Matthew L. Tarentino Community Policing Grant Program grant that provides grants to police departments for innovative programs aimed at fostering strong police-community relations. Established by New Jersey Attorney General Christopher S. Porrino, the program is named in honor of Detective Tarentino, a Summit police officer who was killed in a car accident on May 30, 2017.
Recently retired blogger Bernice Paglia noted in a July 7 Facebook post that the Muhlenberg redevelopment plan is up for a second reading. The plan, she wrote, "sets parameters for what can go on the 10-acre site," and would involve certain properties at 1252-1354 Randolph Road and 1241-1323 Moffett Avenue.
Paglia also shared her Plaintalker II post from May 5, 2017 detailing a redevelopment plan for Block 247 that is up for final passage, which "includes the entire 11-lot block bounded by Madison Avenue, West Front Street, Central Avenue and West Second Street."
An ordinance for a redevelopment plan for certain properties at Block 645, Lots 1-28, located at 701 to 1021 South Avenue near the Netherwood Train Station, is also on the agenda.
The Joint Agenda Session takes place at 7:00 pm at the Municipal Court, 325 Watchung Avenue.
