“Plainfield City Wildlife” Exhibit Begins Aug. 14 at Library

“Fox Portrait” Credits: Carl Monopoli

PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Plainfield Public Library has announced that its next exhibit will feature the work of local photographer, Carl Monopoli.

The “Plainfield City Wildlife” show will feature 36 full-color, photographs taken by Monopoli, who is documenting the incredible wildlife of Plainfield. From the thriving fox population to frogs, birds, and bugs – Monopoli catches them all.

Carl’s interest in nature began almost at birth and he has been shooting pictures since almost that time. Photography as a pastime, he says, has only recently bordered on the obsessive. He is now 48 years old, and is shooting and posting shots almost every day in Plainfield City. He makes daily photo posts on Instagram  @carlmonopoliphoto and at 500px/carlmonopoli.

On Friday morning, four of us piled into a minivan in New Jersey, and headed up to Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, where we ...

First and foremost, my heart and my prayers go out to the victims in Charlottesville, and in particular, to the family of Heather Heyer, who was murdered for standing up against racism, antisemitism, and hate. This unconscionable act of domestic terrorism demands that those of us who reject bigotry not only condemn it, but that we take action. Those who traffic in racial hatred count on the ...

As many residents in Union County, and across the state, are aware, New Jersey's constitution prevents municipalities from using zoning powers to discriminate against lower income residents, and requires that every community provide a reasonable opportunity for affordable homes to be built. Mount Laurel, as this doctrine is known, has been the law of the land for over 40 years, and has helped ...
