PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield City Council members will meet virtually Monday for their Combined Agenda Session; one item on the agenda notes Mayor Adrian O. Mapp is appointing Abby Levenson, the city's current Human Resources Director, as Acting Business Administrator.
Levenson will replace City Clerk Abubakar T. Jalloh, who has been serving as Acting BA since Wayne Clarke was removed as Business Administrator in March 2019 after just seven months.
At the June 8 council meeting, a 90-day extension was approved for Jalloh to continue to serve as Acting BA. Mayor Mapp had said at that time that a search was being conducted by a private firm that was looking far and wide for the best candidate to serve as BA.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Levenson has been heading up the Personnel Division in Plainfield since June 2018. Prior to that, she was the Personnel Director for the City of Paterson for three years.
Other items on Monday's agenda include:
- A resolution that would designate City Hall Plaza as "Black Lives Matter Plaza"
- Two separate Public Works resolutions for Rushmore Playground would award a contract to Landtek Group, Inc. for multi-purpose field improvements in the amount of $2,006,610, and one to Fieldturf for the purchase and installation of synthetic turf field, for $453,600.
- Economic Development resolutions include the designation of 1369 South Plainfield Urban Renewal, LLC as the redeveloper for the redevelopment of property located at 1369-1403 South Avenue, next to Dairy Queen, and 925-927 South Second Street as a non-condemnation redevelopment area.
- An ordinance to be introduced on first reading includes the authorization of the execution of a financial agreement with 803 South Avenue Urban Renewal, LLC, that would grant a tax exemption for property at 757-819 South Avenue, located between Central and Berckman streets.
The Combined Meeting will take place on Monday at 7:00 p.m. and will be conducted via video conference: https://zoom.us/j/99101955881
