PLAINFIELD, NJ -  It's official.  Today marks the start of the Fall season, and soon enough, the leaves will change and colors will pop, to the delight of leaf peepers.

What better way to mark the start of the autumnal season than to visit a park.  National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone on this day, known as National Public Lands Day.

National Public Lands Day is held annually on the fourth Saturday in September.  It is the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort, and this year is the 25th anniversary, as well as the 50th anniversary of both the National Trails System and the National Wild & Scenic Rivers System.
