PLAINFIELD, NJ - More than 140 students participated recently in a one-day blood drive in the gym at Plainfield High School.
Led by coach Carol Taffaro for the last five years, more than 100 pints of blood were collected by the American Red Cross during the one-day drive, the most ever for Plainfield High School.
“I would like to thank everyone at PHS, the American Red Cross Team, and the community, for creating a successful blood drive, the best ever,” Taffaro said.
“The focus the students had was from the month-long meetings and preparation they had prior to the day. The students who donated and volunteered were awesome. They were diligent in keeping the system smoothly running. They were caring and concerned to those who were nervous. They worked well together as a team,” said Taffaro, Plainfield High School Health and Physical Education Supervisor.
According to the American Red Cross for every pint collected the benefits are tripled.
