The stewardship of this great city is not something that myself or the members of my administration take lightly. Every single day, every action taken is with the best interest of our residents at the forefront of our minds.

Every department, every division performs tasks which in isolation may seem like random everyday mundane tasks but when taken as a whole they add up to an organization with a single mind, with a lone focus and that is to improve the quality of life for all Plainfield residents.

We are making application processes easier, we are overcoming bureaucracy, and we are finding solutions to make life easier for everyone who lives in our city.

We seek out new resources, find innovative ways to get around State and Federal cuts and still offer the same high level of service to our community.

We provide solutions for our youth, from community center activities to summer camp, youth employment, mentoring programs, basketball skills camp, swimming pool time, tennis,  skate park, multi sport turf fields, movie nights, concert nights, and providing technical training. We are committed to ensuring that we prepare our young people to be competitive and to enjoy the same amenities that children enjoy in other municipalities.

We have some of the most active and engaged seniors to be found anywhere. Through our senior center they enjoy excursions, take part in daily activities from Zumba to dramatic productions, from pool tournaments to knitting classes. We honor our senior citizens, and we are unwavering in supporting them as they continue to enjoy full lives.

What do we owe you, our residents?

Outstanding customer service at all times, our time, our ideas, great spaces to live, work, and play. We are redefining unity here in Plainfield because we understand that diversity is not a bad word, it's a unique word which connotes individuality, flavor, and variety. We are creating a reality that is nothing like the Plainfield of before; it's nothing like other municipalities, we are creating our own identity as a diverse and unified city in the midst of a tremendous renaissance.

My administration and I reaffirm our commitment to our city and you, our residents. You deserve the best, and as long as I am Mayor, we will never stop working to deliver the best!

Creating One Plainfield, One Future...

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn

The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn (William Morrow, 2018)

A friend, whose opinion on literature I respect greatly, reported to me recently that she had just finished reading A.J. Finn's debut novel, The Woman in the Window. Of it she said, “I wish I hadn't finished it,” which I interpreted to mean, “It was so good I'm sorry that I finished it.” ...

When the Men Go Off to War by Victoria Kelly

When the Men Go Off to War by Victoria Kelly (Naval Institute Press, 2015)

Victoria Kelly's first published volume of poetry, When the Men Go Off to War, is a wonder in that poems can be written so beautifully about the subject of war. Each poem is a jewel, polished and colorful, glittering with elegant imagery, and rich in emotional wallop. The book, divided into three sections, ...

The Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani (Ballentine Books, 2005)

The Queen of the Big Time by Adriana Trigiani, a New York Times best selling author, was recommended to me by a young woman who actually came from the town of Roseto, Pennsylvania, the place where the novel is set. “The author did such a wonderful job of describing how the town actually is,” said the young lady.

The Great Alone by Kristin Hannah (St. Martin's Press, 2018)

What is the “final frontier” on the Earth's surface? Many people would say Alaska, the 49th state, which was added to the United States fifty years ago. Once one has traveled to that remote land, it is impossible to forget the magnificence of the terrain and beasts. Floating by ship in Glacier Bay, surrounded by ...

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins

Into the Water by Paula Hawkins (Riverhead Books, 2017)

I wanted to like Into the Water by Paula Hawkins because I had enjoyed her previous novel, The Girl on the Train, which was a suspenseful thriller. However, when I finished reading the first part of the Into the Water, I realized that I had not absorbed anything that was happening in the story. I blamed myself for not paying ...
