PLAINFIELD, NJ - The countdown is on to National Summer Reading Day, to be held in the park adjacent to the Plainfield Public Library.
The Omicron Chi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, nationally mandated to execute a program combating illiteracy, created National Summer Reading Day, or NSRD, out of a desire to make a difference in the local community.
This year, the festivities will take place on Saturday, July 15, from 12:00 to 2:30 pm.
The Omicron Chi chapter has partnered with Plainfield Public Library, DJ Ovaflow, and Gentlemen Making Changes, or G.M.C., for this event that promotes reading during the summer months.
Kids of all ages are welcome, and parents are encouraged to attend with their children. Free books will be given to each student, courtesy of the library. Register your child today.
Bottled water and light snacks will be served. Bring a blanket to sit in the park!
The Plainfield Public Library is located at 800 Park Avenue. For more information, call 848-391-7663.
