PLAINFIELD, NJ - Donna Albanese Demair, longtime owner of the Dairy Queen franchise in Plainfield, participated in the Donate Life float at the Rose Bowl parade in Pasadena, Calif. on New Year's Day.

Fourteen years ago, she donated her kidney to her mom, Adele Albanese, who turns 84 on May 18. The mother and daughter are volunteers for NJ Sharing Network and speak to high school students and others to spread awareness about the gift of life, educating people to register as organ and tissue donors. Their story has even inspired others to become living donors.
