PLAINFIELD, NJ - An email announcement was sent by Business Administrator Carlos Sánchez on Wednesday afternoon to city employees, informing them of the loss of Police Director Carl Riley's son, 21-year-old Pfc. Jamie R. Riley, due to injuries he incurred when two U.S. Army military training vehicles crashed in southern New Mexico.  Officials said 24-year-old Cpl. Cole Trevor Wixom was also fatally injured.

"It is with the deepest sympathy and regret that we share the untimely passing of Jamie Riley, the son of our Police Director Carl N. Riley.  Jamie was serving in the United States Army and unfortunately was fatally injured during a training exercise.  We have no other details at this time,  but as soon as we get additional information, we will make it available.   Please keep the Riley family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time."
