PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Saturday, Oct. 14, lace up those sneakers, and join the fun at the 7th Annual Plainfield-Queen City Historic 5K Walk/Run for Life event.

Day of registration opens at 7:30 a.m. at City Hall, with an invocation at 8:00 a.m. and Zumba® warm-ups.  The 1-Mile race will begin at 9:00 a.m., and the 5K walk/run will start at 9:30 a.m.

This event is a collaborative effort between the City of Plainfield, the Board of Education, the YMCA, and others.  Spectators, runners and walkers come together each year to celebrate the 5 Pillars for which the event is held: 1) Unity and community engagement, 2) Youth development and senior advocacy, 3) Highlight of beauty and historic legacy of Plainfield and surrounding area, 4) Health and wellness appreciation, 5) Fund raising for non-profit needy causes.

The 5K event and course is sanctioned and certified by the United States of America Track and Field (USATF).  The course passes historic sites, including Plainfield High School, the first public high school in New Jersey, and the Historic Plainfield fire station, the largest of its kind at one time on the eastern seaboard.

Medals will be awarded in age groups from 19 to 60+ years old.
