PLAINFIELD, NJ - Members of the Plainfield Rescue Squad's Cadet Program will be holding a St. Patrick's bake sale.
On Saturday, March 11th, get your Erin go Bragh on for freshly baked cakes, cookies, cupcakes, and of course, Irish Soda Bread.
The Cadet Program is one of the oldest of its kind in the area. It exposes Plainfield youth to a potential career in the health industry.
Sue Kessen tells TAPinto Plainfield that cadets who have gone through the program have gone on to become doctors, nurse paramedics, a hospital administrator, lawyers, and police officers.
The Rescue Squad certifies cadets for CPR, First Aid, and EMR, or Emergency Medical Responder training. And adult members provide career and college counseling services, as well as homework support.
Kessen says that the Cadet Program is now open to those age 12 and up, and cadets age 15 and older who are certified in CPR and First Aid can ride along in the ambulance.
The Plainfield Rescue Squad is located at 700 West 7th Street. Be sure to come early as baked goods are sure to sell out quickly! The bake sale is from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
