PLAINFIELD, NJ - Two Plainfield residents met the Sept. 4 deadline for Independent candidates to submit new nomination petitions to fill a vacancy for the general election.

The County Clerk's office has confirmed that Brenda L. Gilbert and Ronald Johnson, Jr. will be on the ballot for the Nov. 6 election.

Gilbert and Johnson will challenge Elton Armady, who was appointed in June to the citywide at-large seat vacated by Rebecca Williams for the balance of the term, which ends on Dec. 31, 2020.
