PLAINFIELD, NJ — Plainfield and the surrounding area is under a flood warning Thursday evening until 9:45 p.m., according the National Weather Service.

At about 6:45 p.m., the weather service announced that heavy rainfall and flash flooding was expected shortly.

“Turn around, don’t drown, when encountering flooded roads,” the weather service warned. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

It advised people to report flooding to local law enforcement when you can do so safely.
