PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Loving Story will be the feature film in the First Unitarian Society of Plainfield's Second Friday Film Series.
The documentary highlights the story of an interracial couple living in Virginia in the 1950's, and the landmark 1967 Supreme Court case in 1967, Loving v. Virginia. The ruling by the Court: state bans on interracial marriage were unconstitutional.
Justice Anthony Kennedy relied on the decision in Loving v. Virginia when ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, the case that nationalized the right to marry for same-sex couples.
Join FUSP on Friday, July 14 at 7:00 pm to watch The Loving Story; there will be a discussion after the movie.
