PLAINFIELD, NJ – A public meeting has been announced by the Plainfield Municipal Utility Authority for Thursday, Nov. 14 at PMUA headquarters, 127 Roosevelt Ave., to discuss and take action on an increase in the Bulk Waste and Construction Waste Disposal Fee.
In a conversation with TAPinto Plainfield, Director Eric Jackson indicated that the increase in fees is a result of recent changes in China’s waste policies, and many other municipalities are experiencing similar expenses. He further stated that there will be no impact to Plainfield residents, but will impact those outside of the Queen City who utilize the transfer station and are typically assessed a “gate rate.” Residents are allowed two bulk pick-ups per year, and are assessed a fee for additional ones.
Stabilizing rates and increasing the quality of services continues to be PMUA’s goal, according to Jackson, and the public meeting will allow residents an opportunity to learn more and ask questions.
