The public is welcome to visit the city’s firehouse during the Department of Public Safety’s upcoming Open Fire House events.
“We’re opening the firehouses to give members of the public the opportunity to meet our city’s firefighters, to see their equipment up close and to learn more about fire safety,” said Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said.
“Fire stations from various locations throughout the city were chosen so everyone has the opportunity to attend one of the open houses,” he said.
Firefighters will offer firehouse tours and outline their duties and responsibilities. Visitors will be treated to demonstrations on the proper use of carbon monoxide and smoke detectors and will learn how to devise emergency escape plans.
