PLAINFIELD, NJ - The 2nd Annual Queen City Film Festival (NJ) is back next week with a blockbuster lineup of some of the best independently produced films around.  Kicking off early on Friday, Oct. 25, with a free Short Documentary screening hosted by Emmy award winner Courtland Bragg, the two-day festival based in Plainfield, will screen 52 films from seven countries in seven genres, including short film, documentary, feature length, digital series, horror, music video and animation.

Day one will also feature a Screenwriters Panel hosted by the award-winning writers from the hit B.E.T. Show TALES ON BET, an Opening Night Reception kicking off at 6 p.m. as well as an awards presentation for top filmmakers later in the evening.  Events start at the recently renovated PACE (Plainfield Arts & Cultural Education) Center  located at 724 Park Ave. and will conclude with a Welcome Party  for festival pass holders and members of the public who purchase tickets. The Welcome Party will be held at 221 Park Ave starting at 10 p.m.

The second day of the festival will be hosted at the newly constructed Cinemark Theater on Rt. 22 and Terrill Road in Watchung with screenings starting at 9:30am.  The first screening block entitled the Over The Edge Block, features five dramatic short films, one of which, EMPTY, produced by Plainfield filmmaker Laquin Alexander, won Eva Longoria's 2019 Women's Weekend Film Challenge

Midday at the festival ushers in an all star panel of African American Animation artists to talk about pursuing a career in the field.  The panel will also feature a screening of five short animation films by local artist as well as an exclusive screening of SUBSTANCE, produced and directed by former DREAMWORKS exec and KUNG FU PANDA Supervising Animator Jamaal Bradley.  SUBSTANCE is rumored to receive a nod from the Academy for Best Animation. The Animation Panel is free for local art students with valid I.D. (duCret School of Art).

Through the afternoon until the evening, dozens of notable films from award-winning filmmakers including, Anthony E. Williams (F.A.M.), Jamal Hodge (A Happy Divorce) and Spike Lee protege Michael Pickney (Blue Flame), will offer intimate Q&A with each filmmaker following the screenings.
