PLAINFIELD, NJ - "As a painter, my greatest desire is to communicate humanity via the narrative. In a socially detached world, my hope is to draw the viewer in like a cinematographer by feeling the psychological moments of my subject with the mood of the environment.”

Nanci France-Vaz is a nationally acclaimed Modern Romantic painter who fuses classical and contemporary realism. The artist’s cinematic style incorporates her acting/dance background into her narrative paintings. Nanci’s subjects evoke human presence to engage the viewer to be drawn in and feel emotion for them.

As I made my way around the lake, it was easy to see how ...

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo

Retro Review: Johnny Got His Gun by Dalton Trumbo (Citadel Press, 1970)

The Truth About My Reading

The Truth About My Reading

I didn't get my Composition and Literature teacher at Montclair State College at all. A crusty old man with a dour disposition, Mr. Smith always seemed angry and rude. He appropriately intimidated freshmen, even me, an English major, who found this common core course beneath my dignity. Frankly, as a graduate of Highland Park High School, and a survivor of Mrs.
