PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Rotary Club of Plainfield-North Plainfield will honor Plainfield Mayor Adrian O. Mapp with the 2015 Service Above Self Award at its wine tasting dinner on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 6p.m. at Giovanna’s Restaurant in Plainfield. The award recognizes Mapp for his service to the Plainfield community. Past recipients of this award include North Plainfield Police Chief Bill Parenti, former North Plainfield Mayor Janice Allen, and Rotarian Michael Townley of South Plainfield.
Tickets to the event are $70.00 per person — $35.00 representing a tax-deductible contribution. Attendees will be served a five course meal along with wines of their choosing.
In a letter to Mapp, Mary Forbes, President of the Rotary Club, wrote, "We were impressed by the enthusiastic approach you took to your new office, forming task forces to examine and report on issues confronting the city." Forbes said, "Mayor Mapp has brought his professional approach to his leadership and is making strides to improve the quality of life in the community that he has called home for over thirty-four years."
The dinner will also be an opportunity for the Rotary Club to award its annual scholarships to high school seniors from Plainfield and North Plainfield who have particularly excelled in their schoolwork and community service.
