PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Salvation Army of Plainfield has more than 200 bikes to give away to local residents on Tuesday.
In conjunction with Dairy Queen, The Salvation Army will host its annual July giveaway at its Watchung Avenue office.
“This year we are looking to give away over 200 bikes and one of the best parts about this program is all are welcome to come a pick one out,” Lt. Luke Barney said.
Local residents can stop at The Salvation Army (615 Watchung Ave.) between 10 a.m. and noon to obtain a new or slightly used bike. Anyone is eligible to pickup a bike, however, if you have participated in the giveaway within the last year, The Salvation Army asks that you return your old bike so it can be refurbished and redistributed.
Bikes are available on a first come, first serve basis. However, according to Barney, if one is not available at this event, locals “will get one at the next event in December.”
The Salvation Army and Dairy Queen are also accepting bike donations to help fill their giveaway supply. Bikes can be dropped off at The Salvation Army (615 Watchung Ave.) or at Dairy Queen (1367 South Ave.).
