SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- It's a great weekend for the Irish (and honorary Irishmen as well) in Scotch Plains and Fanwood.
Darby Road (450 Park Ave.), is hosting its 5th annual St. Patrick's Day Festival in downtown Scotch Plains from March 17-19. Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith, Township Manager Al Mirabella and Police Chief Ted Conley were on hand for the kickoff with Dennis and Judi of New Jersey 101.5. Sheelen's Crossing, which hosted Fanwood's Irish Festival last weekend, is gearing up for more revelry. The best deal in town may have been at the Knights of Columbus on North Ave., which offered $5 sandwiches and plates of corned beef and cabbage.
Nick's Pizza made its famous corned beef and cabbage pizza and green cannoli. If you're in the mood for green desserts, Rocko's Ice Cream offers St. Patrick's Day-themed cakes, mint chocolate chip and pistachio ice cream, along with all their other great flavors.
