PLAINFIELD, NJ - Despite some rain, the Plainfield Queen City 5K Run/Walk kicked off outside city hall on Saturday morning.  The high school band fired up the crowd, followed by a Zumba® warm-up for participants.

Founder Darryl Clark said, "The registrations were excellent.  We actually got more than we expected.  But I think the rain kept some people from coming out.  We had more people register in advance than ever before."

Clark said that all of the funds that are collected go to non-profits, fund scholarships for students in the district, and to community groups like local basketball leagues, senior programs, and the Pop Warner cheerleaders.  He added, "Everything comes right back into the community."
