PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Plainfield Board of Education and its community partner, The Plainfield Arts Council, wrapped up a month long celebration of Hispanic heritage with a colorful festival. Held in the auditorium at Plainfield High School, the evening was filled with musical and dance selections representing the wide variety of Hispanic cultures.

Performances included a tribute to Puerto Rico, the Latin Eagles Dance Group, Hubbard Dance Group, Imagenes y Tradiciones del Peru, Esperanza Azteca of Mexico, Queen City Ballet & Dance Academy, the Plainfield Dance Ensemble, and invited guest vocalist Daniel Montealegre.  A number of student performers participated in the event as well, and Chelsea Young, a 9th grade PHS student and member of the Orators Club, served as the emcee for the evening.

At the conclusion of the program, the audience gathered in the cafeteria to sample Hispanic cuisine provided by program sponsors.
