UNION, NJ -- Despite the contentiousness of the June 4 Primary in several municipalities -- including Plainfield -- across Union County, when it came time to select the county's Democratic Chair no one challenged State Senator Nick Scutari for the top spot at Kean University on Tuesday, June 11.

Political experts had predicted a possible challenge from Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr, who did not publicly express an intention to run for chair, or from Scutari's hometown rival, Mayor Derrick Armstead, who was appointed Chair of Linden's Democratic Committee on Monday evening.

Assemblywoman Linda Carter (LD-22) of Plainfield will replace Mayor Mahr as the new vice chair of the Union County Democratic Committee. Like Scutari, Carter ran unopposed following Colleen Mahr's decision not to run and put forward a candidacy.
