UNION COUNTY, NJ - A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for the Union County area until 10 p.m. Friday evening. Along with that storm and Flash Flood warning has also been issued until 6 p.m.
The Weather Service reports that winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail are possible with this storm.
“Torrential rainfall can occur with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding,” the service warned. “Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.”
