PLAINFIELD, NJ - Plainfield’s Division of Parks & Recreation will partner with ABF Skate Shop, LLC to introduce a new program for children who are interested in learning the art of skateboarding.
New to the sport? Beginner lessons are available for kids 5 to 8, and 9 to 13 years old. Need to hone your skills? Intermediate lessons for those who have been skateboarding for at least a year are available, too.
There is one advanced level class for 5 to 13 year olds.
According to ABF Skate Shop, LLC, in addition to learning how to safely enjoy the sport, participants will learn the value of hard work, determination, and creativity, and will build confidence both on and off the board.
ABF Skate Shop, LLC is a certified skate school that is insured by the Skateboard Instructor Association.
Skateboards, helmets and wrist guards are required to participate, while knee pads and elbow pads are recommended to avoid swellbow and more.
Plainfield’s 7,000 square foot Madison Avenue Skatepark is located at 301-23 West 2nd Street, and was created by nationally recognized skatepark designer Mark Wojton and Tsivikos Enterprises, Inc. It can accommodate a wide range of age and proficiency levels so that it is fully accessible to the community.
The seven-week session costs $25, and starts on Saturday, May 5. Sign up on CommunityPass.net.
