SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ - South Plainfield Police are looking for the public's help in identifying two robbery suspects who posed as police officers. The robbery took place at the Red Carpet Inn located on Hamilton Boulevard.

According to police the suspects entered the hotel, showed a badge to the front desk clerk and identified themselves as police officers investigating an incident. They asked for a room key for a specific room. Suspects went to that room knocked on the door and when nobody answered, used the key to open the door and made entry. The suspects told the occupants they were police officers and tried detaining the occupants. The suspects then took an undetermined amount of cash from the victims.

The South Plainfield police are working with other agencies to identify the suspects and believe there may be ties  to incidents in north Jersey. The robbery  took place last in the early morning hours of September 17, 2016.
