SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- It's arrival brings both sadness and joy.

The annual Labor Day Italian Feast hosted by the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Chapter of UNICO, St. Bartholomew's Church and St. Bartholomew's Academy, marks the end of summer, but at the same time is a highlight of the local calendar that produces memories that folks young and old cherish for decades.

The festival has been an annual tradition honoring San Nicola di Bari, the patron saint of the town of Montazzoli, Italy, since 1974. (See TAP article on the festival's early days.)  It is a great family event and has something for everyone, including rides, nightly live music, games, and, of course, great food. Favorites include sausage & peppers,  pizza, pasta,  clams, mussels, calzones, and zeppoles. In addition, there are nightly 50/50 drawings and a super 50/50 raffle on Monday.
