SUMMIT, NJ - The Summit Police Department has released a video clip from the July 9 robbery of the Shell gas station located at 6 River Road in Summit. In the video, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and a black bandana over his face follows the station attendant into an office and then strikes the attendant over the head three times.

The suspect remains at large, and anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Summit Police Department's Detective Bureau at 908-273-0051.

According to the Summit Police -- who responded to the scene after receiving a 9-1-1 call at approximately 11 p.m. -- the gas station attendant told the responding officers that a male approached him on foot and demanded the cash from the register.

The suspect fled the scene, running northeast on River Road. The attendant, who suffered a laceration to his forehead, was transported to Morristown Medical Center by Summit EMS.

Multiple Summit Police units and the Union County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit searched the surrounding area but failed to locate the suspect, who is described as follows:

• White male, approximately 5’10 tall, medium build.
