Susan G. Komen North Jersey announced that their 10th annual Race for the Cure, which is one of the largest fundraisers for breast cancer in New Jersey, will be held on May 21, 2017 in Liberty State Park, Jersey City, NJ.
The announcement was made today at a press conference at Liberty State Park by Executive Director, Kelly Witkowski. Mayor Steve Fulop in advance of the press conference noted, “The Susan G. Komen Foundation is one of the leading organizations raising funds for research and education to find a cure for breast cancer.” He continued, "We are honored to welcome the organization here to Jersey City to host their annual Race for the Cure and look forward to a successful event."
When asked why the Race was moving for 2017, Witkowksi replied, “As we mark the milestone of our 10th annual Race for the Cure, it was important to us have a location that could include the largest number of constituents possible. We service a large footprint in North Jersey and moving to Liberty State Park ensures we can offer the thousands who attend a destination event and a day-long affair with the backdrop of the New York City skyline.”
