PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Plainfield community is invited to attend the Take Back the Night event on the steps of city hall on Thursday night in an effort to bring awareness and support to victims and survivors of sexual violence within the community.

Richard Wyatt said, "April is National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. As a continuation of our efforts to reduce violence in our communities, Omicron Chi Chapter recognizes the need for men to use our collective power and influence to publicly address and speak out against sexual violence against women, children, and men. Join us as we use our voices to support survivors of sexual assault."

The National Sexual Violence Resource Centerpdf reports that one in five women have experienced completed or attempted rape in their lives, while over two-thirds of instances of rape are estimated to go unreported.

In order to change rape culture, we have to educate, inspire, and challenge men to confront other men's abusive behavior. Join the @omicronchiques as we engage the boys and men in our communities during our Take Back the Night Rally in @NJ_Plainfield on 4/12/18. #OXMenCare #TBTN pic.twitter.com/8cm4JpC2Op
