PLAINFIELD, NJ - Neither snow nor wintry weather could stop the crowd that turned out on Saturday, Jan. 7th for the grand opening of Plainfield's newest business, The Coffee Box.

The ribbon cutting ceremony was attended by Mayor Adrian Mapp and city officials from the Economic Development Division, as well as Council members, Cory Storch, Bridget Rivers and Rebecca Williams.

The ceremony was kicked off by Carlos Sanchez who introduced the Mayor. Mapp congratulated The Coffee Box owners, Jeff Spelman and Ivan Lo, on the new business and outlined his vision for more economic development in Plainfield.

Spelman, a longtime Plainfield resident and former Novartis executive, expressed his desire for The Coffee Box to be a place where the sense of community is felt by all, while enjoying good coffee and food. The sleek wooden community table that anchors the center of the store provides the perfect space for many patrons to gather.  

Donna Albanese, Dairy Queen's owner and landlord of the space, also expressed her congratulations to The Coffee Box as well as to the administration's for their support in seeing the project come to fruition.

Free coffee, hot chocolate as well as freshly baked treats were provided to the patrons and Dairy Queen also provided samplings of ice cream cake.

The Coffee Box is located at 1359 South Avenue in Plainfield and is open weekdays from 6:30 am to 5 pm and on weekends from 8 am to 4 pm. The menu can be found on their website at www.cofbx.com.
