PLAINFIELD, NJ – On Saturday, December 2, 2017, The Donald Van Blake Tennis & Education Foundation will present its Fundraising Dance Extravaganza, featuring local DJ extraordinaire, DJ Lenny Len. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. at the BUF Facilities located at 403 West 7th Street, Plainfield, NJ.

The event features an open bar and complimentary hors d’oeuvres and desserts. There will be raffle drawings for chances to win exciting prizes including tennis lessons, Broadway show tickets to see “Chicago,” television sets and more. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. All proceeds to fund the Indoor Winter Program and DVBTEF Scholarship Fund.

The organization, named after Plainfield’s own esteemed tennis ambassador Donald Van Blake, is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization. Mr. Van Blake, even at 96 years old, is still an active trustee of the organization. It was his vision to get everyone playing “tennis, tennis, tennis,” particularly the youngsters in the community, and makes it a point of his duty to come out to the Summer Camp each year for a meet and greet with the kids.

As a member of the USTA CTA & NJTL programs, DVBTEF provides opportunities for our kids to compete in USTA sanctioned tournaments, as well as attend camps and workshops to hone their skills. Tennis also teaches life lessons: participants learn sportsmanship, accept responsibility, manage mistakes, learn to compete, learn teamwork, develop a work ethic, and much more. We invest in our youth through college scholarship as well as scholarships to our camps and subsidies for the indoor season. We also offer opportunities for the Plainfield High School Varsity teams to practice indoors during the off-season to prepare for the upcoming high school competition season.
