There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at the new Watchung Reservation Sensory Trail, a 0.3 mile loop with a central gazebo.  The interpretive signage includes two talking kiosks highlighting the natural and human history of the reservation.  At 10 a.m. at 452 New Providence Rd. in Mountainside.

The Plainfield Education Association is once again sponsoring a candidates forum featuring those running for seats on the Board of Education.  Nine members of the community filed for three three-year seats:  Alma Blanco; John C. Campbell - incumbent; David Graves; Emily E. Morgan - incumbent; Melba Mullins; Rebecca Perkins; Timothy A. Priano; Harry M. Watson Jr.; Richard Wyatt - incumbent.  Three residents filed for a one-year unexpired term:  Eric Andrews; Dorien Hurtt; Tera L. Phipps.  Contact Vashon Hill at for more information.

The Shade Tree Commission meets at 7:30 p.m. in the second floor conference room at city hall.

Football:  1 p.m. scrimmage vs. Perth Amboy HS at the Perth Amboy Youth Complex.

Plainfield's Division of Parks and Recreation summer concert series continues with a World Music theme.  The tunes start at 7 p.m. on the plaza at city hall, 515 Watchung Ave.
