Monday, June 17

  • The Plainfield City Council combined agenda session starts at 7 p.m. in municipal court, 325 Watchung Ave.  Download the agenda.  The council's next meeting will be held on July 8.
  • Wear Your Own Planet - Make your own Space-themed T-shirt; for 11-17 year-olds.  This is part 2 of a two-part event, and participants will transfer their designs onto T-shirts using a transfer press.  For more information contact teens@plfdpl.info.
  • Graduations / Moving Up Ceremonies
    • Clinton's Pre-K ceremony will take place at 9 a.m.
    • Cook Elementary's Kindergarten moving up ceremony  at 9 a.m.

Tuesday, June 18

  • Code Combat, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Plainfield Public Library
  • Cinema Tuesdays at the Plainfield Public Library at 1 p.m. in the Anne Louise Davis room.  This week, watch Nobody's Fool, with Tiffany Haddish.
  • Graduations / Moving Up Ceremonies
    • Barlow Elementary's Kindergarten moving up ceremony at 9 a.m.
    • Clinton Kindergarten's ceremony will start at 9 a.m.
    • The ceremony for the Kindergarten class at Emerson Community School will start at 8:30 a.m.
    • Stillman's Kindergarten promotion will start at 8:45 a.m.
    • The P.A.A.A.S. 8th grade ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.

Wednesday, June 19

  • The Plainfield Zoning Board will meet at 7 p.m. in the library at City Hall.  Check here for the agenda, not available at press time.  According to a legal notice, the board will hear from the owner at 1275 Denmark Road in Netherwood Heights for development that includes an addition to the rear of the single-family home, the construction of an oversized detached garage,a patio, and a new driveway.

    • Barlow Elementary's 5th grade moving on/clap out ceremony at 9 a.m.
    • Cedarbrook's 8th grade promotion at 11 a.m. at Plainfield High School.
    • Clinton's 5th grade ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.
    • Cook Elementary's 5th grade moving up will be held at 9 a.m
    • Emerson's 5th grade ceremony will begin at 9 a.m.
    • The ceremony for Evergreen's Kindergarten class will start at 8:15 a.m.
    • Jefferson's 5th grade ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m.
    • Stillman's 5th grade graduation will start at 8:45 a.m.
    • Washington Community School's promotion ceremony will start at 9 a.m.
    • Hubbard Middle School's 8th grade promotion ceremony at 10:30 a.m.

Thursday, June 20

  • Graduations / Moving Up Ceremonies
    • The ceremony for Jefferson's Kindergarten class will begin at 9:30 a.m.
    • Maxson Middle School's 8th grade promotion ceremony will start at 9 a.m. at Plainfield High School.

Friday, June 21

  • Graduations / Moving Up Ceremonies
    • P.A.A.A.S. seniors graduate at 2 p.m. at Hub Stine field.
    • Plainfield High School seniors graduate at 6 p.m., with a ceremony at Hub Stine.  Rain location is at the high school.
  • Catch a screening of Jewel's Catch One at 7pm at the new Plainfield Cultural Center (former FUSP), at 724 Park Avenue.  The film celebrates the legacy of a legendary Los Angeles nightclub called Catch One, and the life-changing impact its owner, Jewel Thais-Williams, had on her community. 

 

Saturday, June 22

  • Plainfield Pride in the Park, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., in Cedar Brook Park (near the Shakespeare Garden), will include Drag Queen Story Hour for the kids, games, prizes, food, a DJ and so much more.  For more info, contact Wesley McWhite at 908-755-0021, or email wmcwhite@hyacinth.org.

Sunday, June 23

  • A special lecture will be given by Judith Krall-Russo, Food Historian and Certified Tea Specialist, entitled: “Tea and Other Meals in Victorian America” at 2 p.m. at the Drake House Museum, located at 602 West Front Street.
