PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Women's Arts Collective (TWAC) is a network of artistic and innovative women 55-years and up who are passionate about passing down art skills and techniques to younger generations. One part of TWAC's mission is to establish Plainfield as an arts center.
TWAC is ready to use its artistic and economic development vision to create a more prosperous and sustainable future for Plainfield and the Central New Jersey area. Its objectives include:
- Supporting creative women by providing studio space, exhibition opportunities, and financial assistance
- Educating the community about the cultural benefits and sustainable lessons of art through workshops, festivals and special events
- Revitalizing art in the community by promoting arts activities
- Supporting local business and other existing art institutions
TWAC has announced a hand quilting workshop. Learn the basics of hand quilting in this workshop that will take place in three 3-hour sessions in February with instructors Carolyn Davis and Glendora Simonson, co-founders of the Nubian Heritage Quilters Guild.
Workshop sessions will be held on February 5th, 12th, and 19th from 1:00-4:00 pm at Art As Therapy, located at 58 Ridge Road in Watchung, NJ.
