PLAINFIELD, NJ - A report of a transformer explosion in the 200 block of East Front Street in Plainfield has been confirmed by Plainfield's Director of Public Safety Carl Riley.

"A few transformers tripped and exploded underground."

At this point, the cause is unknown, but there was no fire that needed to be extinguished, no injuries reported, and no loss of power, according to Directly Riley.

He added, "PSE&G is working to reenergize the transformer."
