UNION COUNTY, NJ — Union County residents might want to allow for some extra drive-time on Saturday morning, as a political truck parade anticipated to draw “high attendance” plans to roll through the town.
Organizers of the “Trump Truck Parade” announced on their website that they will leave from the AMC Mountainside 10 on Route 22 in Mountainside at 10 a.m., before meeting up with supporters in Garwood and heading to a rally in North Bedminster. The plan is to roll through Westfield, Clark, and Scotch Plains along the way.
“Please show up early to ensure a spot because of high attendance expected,” the organizers write. “We will then merge with another lot full of Trump supporters in Garwood and continue on.”
A map of the route shows the truck parade is set to enter Westfield traveling south on East Broad Street, before turning onto Central Ave., moving onto North Ave. East, meeting up with their fellow supporters at North Ave. and Maple Street in Garwood and then continuing back into Westfield on South Ave. East, before taking Central Ave. into Clark and driving past Arthur L. Johnson High School.
The parade is then anticipated to go along Westfield Ave. and onto Lamberts Mill Road, with supporters of President Trump rolling past Tamaques Park and into Scotch Plains. The Trump Trucks will turn onto Raritan Road and rumble up Martine Ave. in Fanwood and then Park Ave. in Scotch Plains before taking Route 78 to the rally in North Bedminster, according to the mapped route.
Truck rallies have become commonplace among the president’s supporters. The “MAGA Drag the Interstate Rally” visited Clark Oct. 3, bringing trucks with custom paint jobs in support of re-electing the president, including one that read “All Aboard the Trump Train.”
And with flags waiving, horns honking and lights flashing, a similar parade of Trump supporters rolled through Hillsborough Oct. 11 with hundreds of pick-up trucks, SUVs, recreational vehicles, tractor trailers, convertibles, passenger cars and motorcycles flying the American flag and Trump flags.
The organizers of Saturday’s parade did not return an email seeking comment for this story on Tuesday.
