CRANFORD – Union County College President, Dr. Margaret M. McMenamin, was elected to serve as Vice Chair of the Executive Committee for the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), and began her term in January 2017. She has been serving as a commissioner with MSCHE since 2014. As Vice Chair she will provide policy leadership to the organization’s Executive Committee.
As a commissioner, Dr. McMenamin participates on a 27-member board that oversees accreditation and pre-accreditation activities for colleges and universities in New Jersey, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other territories. Dr. McMenamin’s experience with MSCHE includes her having served as a site visitor and a team chair.
MSCHE elects commissioners from among its 526 member institutions. As an elected commissioner, Dr. McMenamin attends commission meetings and serves on task forces and committees. MSCHE is one of several regional accrediting commissions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
