SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ --

On Wednesday evening, Peter A. Capodice , Superintendent of Schools for the Union County Vocational Teechnical Schools (UCVTS) made the following Facebook post:

Dear UCVTS Family:

Sign Up for E-News

Late this afternoon I was informed by the Scotch Plains Police that one of our UCVTS students was involved in a very serious motor vehicle accident and was airlifted to University Hospital in Newark to undergo emergency surgery. At this time our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our student.

All of our administrators are preparing for tomorrow and all eleven of our counsellors will be available tomorrow for students that may be seeking support.

Tomorrow is the second day of year-end assessments. We will accommodate any student that may not feel up to taking tomorrow's assessment. Students that feel prepared should take the assessment as scheduled.

As members of our UCVTS Family I know you will be joining us in wishing our student the strength to make it through this ordeal. I will do my best to keep you all informed of any new developments in this matter.

Sincerely,

Peter A. Capodice
Superintendent of Schools
