PLAINFIELD, NJ - At approximately 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, a 39-year old Plainfield man was hit by a vehicle while crossing the street in the area of the 1100 block of West 8th Street in Plainfield.
According to Plainfield Public Safety Director Carl Riley, "The vehicle was driven by a 37-year old male, South Plainfield resident who left the scene. Unfortunately, the male that was struck died due to the injuries. The driver was quickly located and we are investigating.”
UPDATE: Director Riley reports that the driver is currently charged with 2C:11-5.1, knowingly leaving the scene of motor vehicle accident resulting in death.
The victim’s name has not been disclosed at this time.
