PLAINFIELD, NJ — A fire broke out around 11:15 p.m. on Friday night in a house on the 100 block of East 7th Street in Plainfield, according to Breaking News Network alerts. City officials suspect arson.
The fire was heavy at the abandoned house, and in additional BNN alerts, command reported an explosion in the back of the building. Another source reported there were no injuries.
There was mutual aid from neighboring towns, including Scotch Plains and North Plainfield units.
A homicide victim had been found in the yard at this address back in the summer of 2005, reported by Bernice Paglia on Plainfield Plaintalker.

Last night at approx 11:15 a fire occurred at 144 East 7th street which is an abandoned residence. There were several pockets of fires spread throughout the structure. Plainfield fire crews along with various mutual aid companies entered and extinguished the fires. The fires appeared to be the work of an arsonist and is under investigation. There were no injuries to any fire personnel nor were any other victims found. There is no further information available at this time.
