PLAINFIELD, NJ - A shooting on Liberty Street has been confirmed on the afternoon of May 3 by the Plainfield Police Division.
According to a BNN alert, there is one victim, and a suspect has fled in a vehicle.

UPDATE: The Plainfield Police Division has issued the following information.
On Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at approximately 12:35 pm, Plainfield Police Patrol Units responded to the area of 300 block of Liberty Street on a report of shots fired. Officers on foot within the area were able to quickly identify the suspect vehicle that fled the scene. Responding Officers immediately located the intended target, Kenneth McCoy, age 24 from Plainfield, with a non-life threatening gunshot injury. Mr. McCoy was transported by EMS to an area hospital for treatment.
Within minutes of the shooting, a Patrol Unit located the suspect vehicle traveling south in the 10 block of Clinton Avenue. The vehicle was stopped with the help of additional Police Units. The driver, Cornelius Chinemere, age 28 of Plainfield, and passenger Roland Offley, age 25 and also of Plainfield, were both detained and taken into custody.
Additionally, Detectives have recovered the suspected gun involved. Both Chinemere and Offley were charged with Aggravated Assault and Weapons Offenses.
