PLAINFIELD, NJ - On Friday, Feb. 10th, the Plainfield YMCA will be hosting its first annual Casino Night to raise funds to support its Age-Out and Workforce Programs. In addition to the professionally run games of chance, the event will feature a live performance by local band Roland Washington and One Step Beyond, playing a mix of smooth Jazz, R&B and Pop.
The band members include:
- Roland Washington - Sax and Flute / Leader Carlton Rudolph - Bass / Co-leader
- Nowell Scott - Drums / Music Director
- Charlie Rivers - Rhythm Guitar and Vocals
- Richard Dunn - Lead Guitar
- Valarie Knight - Vocalist
- Rayella Cruz - Vocalist
- Sean Moloney - Multi-Percussions / Mgr and Consultant
In existence as a local band for about a year, they have grown in popularity at a rapid pace, and have performed at the Summit Elks Lodge, The Echo Lake Country Club, the Chandelier Caterers in Bayonne, Image Makers Fashion Shows, and several events in Cedarbrook Park.
All proceeds benefit the Age-Out Program which involves the development of 30 efficiency-style apartments for youth aging out of the Foster Care program and provides them with affordable housing and services to help them transition to independent living. The Second Chance Workforce Program is aimed at out-of-school youth requiring GED preparation and job force training assistance.
The Casino Night will be held at the historic Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church at 716 Watchung Ave in Plainfield, NJ. Admission is $100 per person (21 yrs and over) and includes music, food, open bar and $50 in playing chips. Tickets are on sale and can be purchased in advance by calling the Plainfield YMCA at (908)756-6060, or at the door the night of the event.
