PLAINFIELD, NJ - The Plainfield Veterans Day ceremony took place on a brisk Saturday morning.
The observance began with a wreath being placed at the War Memorial at Watchung Avenue and East 7th Street, and then moved to City Hall, where another wreath was placed at the monument.
Freeholder Linda Carter spoke about the resources that are available for Veterans in the county through the Union County Heroes Success Center. Services are offered through various county agencies, including the Office of Veterans' Affairs, the Division on Aging, health and mental health referral services, job opportunities through the Workforce Innovation Business Center, and outreach.
Back in 2014 the Plainfield Veterans Center opened here in Plainfield.
Plainfield High School students Vivian Torres, with Josh Polius on guitar, sang “Heaven” during the ceremony. PAAAS Student of the Month Stephanie Ramirez performed TAPS to end of the ceremony.
