EDISON, NJ -- Middle School students have begun the school year by participating in two community service projects. Families worked with members of Jersey Cares and Union County Parks Departments to restore and rehabilitate trails at the Watchung Reservation on Sept. 9.
On the following Saturday, Sept. 16, nine students and their parents took part in our first Service Learning Day at the Highlands Long Term Care Facility on Inman Avenue in Edison.
Joined by trip leader Linda Kraynik, the group met residents, played games, and performed instrumental and dance pieces for a large group of residents.
Shankari Theivanayagam of Summit, Maria Guseva of Staten Island and Anushka Dalal of Scotch Plains, Middle School students at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison, spend time with residents at the Highlands Long Term Care Facility in Edison.
