EDISON, NJ -- Upper School students at The Wardlaw-Hartridge School in Edison were honored for their participation and achievement at the Honors Assembly on June 2. The program began with a welcome by Dr. Bob Bowman of Scotch Plains, Assistant Head of School for Upper School, and continued with recognition of students who participated in service and leadership, clubs, the arts and athletics.
Five new members were inducted into the Cum Laude Society: seniors Manasvinee Mayil Vahanan of Edison, Yumna Naqvi of South Plainfield and Hazel Yu of Edison and juniors Suraj Chandran of Edison and Hannah Yates of Piscataway. They joined current senior members Vicky Cui of Edison, Melanie Davis of Metuchen, Anuva Goel of Old Bridge and Carlin Schildge of Westfield. Mark Donaghy of Kendall Park, Math Department Chair, awarded the RPI Medal to junior Suraj Chandran. This award is in recognition of outstanding academic achievement in the study of mathematics and science.
Other academic areas recognized included Courier News Academic All-Star, AP Scholars, National Merit Scholars, New Jersey Governor’s School and World Languages Honor Society.
Andrew Webster of Edison, Head of School, made closing remarks during which he reflected on the busy school year and encouraged the students to enjoy some quiet moments during the summer break.
