WESTFIELD, NJ — YESTERcades will open its third arcade at 151 East Broad St. in Downtown Westfield this spring, the company announced Tuesday. The space was formerly occupied by City Sports.

YESTERcades describes itself as a gaming experience straight out of the “golden age of gaming.” They offer a variety of arcade video games, such as Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Street Fighter and NBA Jam, as well as classic pinball machines. Locations have both classic and modern consoles.

Ken Kalada opened the first  YESTERcades location in Red Bank  in 2011, according to YESTERcades Manager Fred Logue.

“The feedback was overwhelming and he was fortunate enough to open the second location in Somerville in 2014. After the demand grew even higher to put a location in Union County, we decided that Westfield was [the] only option,” Logue said. “We are extremely ecstatic to announce today that YESTERcades of Westfield will be opening in the Spring of 2018 at 151 East Broad St, formerly City Sports. We will be keeping everyone updated on our new YESTERcades of Westfield Facebook page.”

Two Nights by Kathy Reichs (Bantom,2017)

How does a writer of a beloved series like Harry Potter or Temperance Brennan break out of their readers' expectations and try something new? For J.K. Rowlings it was the novels penned under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith; books about a maimed and very flawed private detective with the unlikely name of Cormoran Strike. For Kathy Reichs, it is the ...

Drama by Raina Telgemeir

Drama by Raina Telgemeier (Scholastic, 2012) (target audience, Young Adults)

When my daughter, Shauna, was six years old, we took her to see her first Broadway production; a revival of The Wiz starring Stephanie Mills. I knew that it was the last time Mills could get away with playing Dorothy, and I impressed upon Shauna that seeing this show was a special moment in her life. As a ...

The Last Tudor by Philippa Gregory

The Last Tudor by Philippa Gregory (Touchstone, 2017)

Yesterday my cousin, the daughter of my mother's sister, called me from California where she lives, and hit me up for money. This is not the first time she has asked me for money, and not the last, I am sure. She grew up the daughter of a privileged family and cruised to Europe frequently when she was a child. Her wardrobe came from ...

The Unquiet Grave by Sharyn McCrumb (Atria Books, 2017)

Sharyn McCrumb is, quite simply, an American gem, and one of my favorite authors.
