Plainfield election is over, and it would appear that it will remain politics as usual. The council remains one mind and the school board plods along with the incumbents. Mayor Mapp's statement of, "....a failed experiment...." (to have an alternative for a council seat) was puzzling.
I thank this candidate, as well as the independent candidates for the school board, for bringing choice, awareness, and such positive energy to a city that has been a one-line, one-party system for too long. I believe these candidates influenced voter turnout. I hope they will remain involved, and that more residents will expect and receive accountability and transparency on the part of all elected officials.
Plainfield deserves no less than that.
