PLAINFIELD, NJ — The City of Plainfield received a $2,500 grant from the Investors Foundation in support of the Plainfield COVID-19 Relief Fund. The grant will help to further the City of Plainfield’s efforts to provide relief to Plainfield residents adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Plainfield COVID-19 Relief Fund was established by the Mayor and City Administration in April of this year. It’s goal is to provide assistance to residents experiencing economic hardship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Residents, business partners and stakeholders have the opportunity to partner with the City to donate funds which go directly to those in need of rent, mortgage, and utility payment support, as well as food and other essential needs.
As of Tuesday, November 3, 2020, 43 Plainfield residents have received a total of $20,363.55 through the Plainfield COVID-19 Relief Fund. The $2,500 grant from the Investors Foundation will help alleviate some of the anxiety faced by residents as they struggle to deal with the economic consequences of the virus.
In addition to the COVID-19 Relief fund the city also established the UEZ COVID Relief Program to assist local businesses that faced hardship as a result of the pandemic. To date $278,600 in grants has been awarded to 40 businesses from the UEZ COVID Relief program.
“The Plainfield COVID-19 Relief Fund and the UEZ COVID Relief Program were created to support Plainfield residents and businesses struggling to make ends meet during this unforeseen and unpredictable time of hardship. The Investors Foundation grant will help to give hope, and offer financial assistance for many at a time when they need it most. My hope is that through donations like this the Plainfield COVID-19 Relief Fund will be able to function for as long as it is needed, and that we can reach every Plainfield resident in need.” - Mayor Adrian O. Mapp
